Cary Qualia, MD, FAAP 

 

Cary Qualia, MD, FAAP received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Binghamton University, and his MD degree from Upstate Medical University.  He was a pediatric house officer at Upstate Medical University and received his training in pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition at University of Rochester Medical Center.

 

Dr. Qualia is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in the field of pediatric gastroenterology. He is Professor of Pediatrics and Chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology at Albany Medical College in Albany, NY.

 

He has been recognized as an outstanding clinician, having been named “2013 Physician of the Year by the Upstate Northeastern NY Chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, a “NY Top Doc,” and a Hudson Valley Top Doctor.”

 

Dr. Qualia is the author or co-author of multiple publications, including original articles and book chapters. He is also the recipient of multiple teaching awards, including the Pediatric Fellow Teaching Award at University of Rochester Medical Center, and both the Pediatric Residency Faculty Teaching Award and the Medicine Pediatric Residency Faculty Teaching Award at Albany Medical College. He greatly enjoys lecturing to groups of physicians, nurses, and other individuals interested in learning about pediatric gastrointestinal disease.
