Overview

This is the 26th Anniversary of the Asthma, Allergy and Immunology Update. This year’s conference will focus on the use of biologics in the treatment of allergic and immunologic diseases. The targeting of specific molecules involved in the pathogenesis of allergic and immunological conditions including cancer is being actively pursued. By and large those therapeutic tools have been extremely valuable in the treatment of those disorders and have changed life for the better for many patients. Because of the explosive nature of that area of medicine, providers often feel overwhelmed by the emergence of all those agents who names end in “mab”. One of the goals of the conference this year is to carry the clinician step by step into an understanding of biologics nomenclature, therapeutic effects and potential complications as we treat allergic and immunologic conditions. A team of experts has been assembled to discuss the role of biologics in allergic rhinitis, asthma, eczema, food allergies, eosinophilic esophagitis, autoimmunity, immune deficiency and cancer.
