Overview

Geriatric clinical reasoning requires navigating diagnostic ambiguity, multimorbidity, and patient-centered priorities in ways that are iterative and non-linear, which traditional frameworks often fail to capture. Kevin’s Comb and Becky’s Braids provides a visual model in which repeated “combing” supports ongoing diagnostic reassessment, while “braiding” integrates management into goal-aligned, feasible care plans that are periodically unraveled and reworked as conditions evolve. Together, the framework offers a shared language to make adaptive, patient-centered reasoning more explicit in clinical care and teaching.
