Overview
With the emergence of AI in late 2022, medicine has started to transform in its way of practice. Physicians are beginning to integrate AI into their means of practicing, allowing for more accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans. AI also has the potential to increase face-to-face time between the patient and their physician by taking care of the miscellaneous tasks physicians and healthcare teams spend ample time on, like writing notes, orders, pre-ops, and billing. Many studies have been done to prove the efficacy of AI in fields like neuroradiology. However, while AI has been shown to be a fruitful resource in medicine, it also has the potential to mislead and provide incorrect information to both patients and physicians. Regulations and laws are still being created in order to implement this new resource safely and accurately into the healthcare system. Albany Medical Center and Albany Medical College are excited to introduce AI in its practice and use it as a supplemental tool to help improve patient care.

Objectives

  1. Introduce AI and the different realms of medicine that it is involved in
  2. Discuss the legal ramifications and the ethical issues surrounding AI, as well as the hallucinations that AI can create
  3. Describe how it has been introduced into the practice of radiology and neuroradiology
