Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify signs/symptoms of a stroke
  2. Discuss available stroke therapies
  3. Implement stroke prevention strategies
  4. Review current literature on pediatric bruising in child maltreatment and recognize bruising characteristics that increase concern for physical abuse.
  5. Recognize injury characteristics, patterns, and historical features of pediatric bites and burns that increase concern for child maltreatment.
  6. Identify medical conditions that can mimic bruising from child maltreatment and develop an appropriate differential diagnosis and approach to evaluation.
  7. Differentiate IBS, IBD, and functional abdominal syndromes based on their underlying pathophysiology, clinical features, and diagnostic criteria.
  8. Recognize key clinical clues and red flags that help distinguish functional GI disorders from inflammatory or structural gastrointestinal disease.
  9. Review the diagnostic and management approach, including when to pursue further testing, specialist referral, or reassurance and symptom-directed treatment.
