Overview
AMC presented a needs assessment to all faculty and mid-levels in the Division of HIV Medicine and results were
calculated. These results, in collaboration with Dr. Miller, determine topic choice. We meet quarterly to discuss curricula and to evaluate needs assessment data that has come in. We also assess the needs from many other providers in the region by utilizing a federal needs assessment form as required by our funders. These needs assessments are completed by electronic submission. Presenters are chosen to speak based on the topics most often requested by our community sites. Presenters are chosen based upon which national or regional faculty is known to best present that topic.

Most if not all speakers chosen for AMC grand rounds are faculty employed by an Academic Medical Center or an AIDS Designated Center within New York or across the country. Furthermore, they must be treating or consulting on HIV patients to present at our grand round programs. The majority of faculty chosen to present have spoken at national and international conferences and are deemed established experts in their field. These presenters are also chosen based peer reviews touting that they possess excellent presentation skills. 

Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

 

Learning objectives for specific programs will be based on what our HIV Providers are seeing in the community as they precept at community clinics.  Dr. Miller and other HIV Medicine attending physicians attend national and international HIV conferences which inform them of state and national HIV trends.  This in turn assists us in implementing clinical programs which address these trends in the  epidemic.

  2. Describe CDC STD treatment guidelines and updates
  3. Review Expedited Partner Treatment
