Overview
Alzheimer’s disease is an international public health crisis. As the number of individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in the US is projected to rise to 13.8 million by 2050, there is a critical need for continued and coordinated research efforts. Currently, there are limited pharmacological treatments that have been approved by the FDA for Alzheimer’s disease, though one which was heavily publicized in the summer of 2021. This presentation will describe Alzheimer’s Disease, review the current treatments and trials available. Additionally, the future of research and clinical trials for Alzheimer’s disease, along with recent updates on investigational treatments will be discussed.
